Pastor David Jones Sr. is native of Simmesport, Louisiana. He is the eldest of 13 children to the late Rev. and Sis Selcer Jones Sr. Pastor Jones accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. In 1960 he married Miss Eterial Diggles. They have 3 children: Carol La’Nae Harris, Cassandra Layvone Robinson, and David Jones Jr. He has 13 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

He united with the New Mount Gilead Baptist Church in 1960 and served as the Sunday School Superintendant and as a Deacon, but the Lord had something else for him to do. In May of 1964 he surrendered to the call of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the Pastorize of Rev. E.W. Roberson. Pastor Jones attended the interracial Baptist Institute as well as Bishop College in the late sixties majoring in theology. In 1970 he was called to pastor the New Mount Gilead Baptist Church and served there faithfully for seventeen years.

The second Sunday in May of 1987 he became the fourth Pastor of Arlington Park First Baptist Church in Dallas, Tx. Pastor Jones has won many souls to Christ by preaching and Teaching the word of God, also in 1987 he was elected the Moderator of the Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Association. He is a member of the Afro-American Coalition of Pastors; Southern Baptist Convention; Dallas Interdenominational Ministers Alliance; National Baptist Convention of America Inc. In August of 1995 Pastor Jones received his honorary Doctors and Doctors of Divinity from Rocky Mountain School of Theology. In February 1997 Pastor Jones played a crucial part on behalf of the Arlington Park Baptist Church Community, addressing developers, The Zoning Commission, and the City Council with several Senior Citizen and others by having the community re-zoned as single-family.  In September of 2013 Pastor Jones became President of The Dallas Baptist Minister’s Conference.
